REMOVING THE ISSUE OF ABORTION FROM POLITICAL DEBATE

It’s time the American government removed the issue of abortion from political debate and defined it as ethically immoral and criminal.  Unless a pregnancy endangers the life of the mother, it’s termination should be regarded by the law as a heinous crime.

Educators and public health workers should be mobilized as advocates for the unborn defenseless objects of dehumanization, the victims of genocide in the 21st century.  Pro-abortion activists should be recognized as opportunists who champion the cause of grown people who can talk (and vote) at the expense of innocent, mute, vulnerable human beings.

HIGH SCHOOL PRO-LIFE ED

Since a greater demand for abortion exists among teens the American government should institute a nationwide, federally sponsored school program to educate young women about the seriousness of abortion - in the same way it addresses the prevalence of drunken driving among teens by providing high school driver’s ed courses.  Every teenage girl should be shown a video of the fetus in his mother’s womb at every stage of growth; she should have a chance to see how flawless - how staggeringly complex and incredibly exquisite an unborn baby is.  She should be given a glimpse into the deep, mysterious world of the womb where new life is brought into being, where the unending will to live and grow courses through every fiber of the fetus’ body; where a new face, distinctly different from every other that was ever created, is wrought in the image of G-d. 

Then she should be shown a video of an actual abortion - so that she can see how that same small, precious human being is tortured to death as his or her limbs are torn apart; so that she can hear the muffled screams of a tiny person going through the seven gates of hell; so that if she ever entertains the idea of abortion she should know that she will be committing murder.

After seeing these videos, however, it’s much more likely that the viewers will take the issue of birth control more seriously and easily succeed in avoiding unwanted pregnancies; those who do become pregnant will think twice before extinguishing the life within them, as they consider viable alternatives for the baby after he or she is born.   All will learn that taking responsibility for one’s actions and confronting challenges instead of hiding from them, is what life is all about.

The Bible teaches that upon being commanded by Samuel to kill Agag, king of the Amalekites, King Saul took mercy on the captive king and spared his life.  The distorted judgement that engendered this mercy for a cruel tyrant, teach our Sages of blessed memory, is what caused King Saul, later on, to be unjustly cruel to the merciful priests of Nov, whom he massacred for providing asylum to King David.

Not by coincidence, those who condone the murder of unborn children often promote pacifism and tolerance towards third-world terrorists who brought down the twin towers and continue to endanger the civilized world.  In the name of mercy they protest firm action against terrorists who thrive on bloodshed while they legitimize the murder of millions of innocent human beings every year.

Defined by the Rebbe King Messiah as a “Kingdom of Kindness,” America must renew its commitment to the safeguarding of innocent human life - beginning where life is born.
